Distance Coach Matt Cota
The University Running Club offers members a chance to receive training schedules and advice. Matt Cota is our club’s current distance captain and all members are welcome to use him as a resource for any aspect of running. Matt provides the race team with a weekly training schedule that can be used as a method to prepare the team for competition. These schedules and workouts are included in the weekly email.

Sprints/Hurdle Coach Francis X. Shen

Coach Francis is a USATF Level 1 Certified Coach, and coaches Club runners in the sprints, hurdles, and field events. In his day job, Coach Francis is a law professor at the University of Minnesota Law School. He has been competing in the 110 and 400 hurdles for 25 consecutive years, currently ranking 1st in the nation and 10th in the world in the 400-meter hurdles for his age division. Previously he competed in the D-III NCAA National Championships, and ran on a winning team in the Shuttle Hurdle Relay at Penn Relays. He coordinated hurdlers training with the Greater Boston Track Club, and was a volunteer assistant coach at Loyola New Orleans.
Coach Francis is committed to providing our athletes with the structure and guidance of a collegiate level training experience. We encourage all of our members to take advantage of this great resource!
