Meet The Officers

Say Hi to one of these friendly faces!
Duncan Ince  /  Senior  /  President
Picture
Hey everyone! My name is Duncan Ince (aka Funky Dunky) and I have the absolute privilege of being your Run Club President for this following year! What should you know about me? Well I am a senior Mechanical Engineering student here at the University. I have curly hair and I am VERY proud of it. And most importantly, I love this club and it's people. In the fall you'll catch me struggling through 8ks, but coming springtime you'll see me thriving on that mid distance. I strive to have everyone else love running as much as I do. If you ever need anything or have any questions, please reach out!
Josh Bailey  /  Senior  /  Vice President of Distance
Picture
Hello everyone! My name is Josh and I will be the Vice President of Distance this year. My primary goal as VP is to be a familiar face at club to reinforce the strong community that we have, and make sure that everyone’s ideas are heard and considered. I am a senior majoring in Nutrition. I am from the lovely (not really) small town of Benson, Minnesota. I have been an active member of Run Club since my freshman year and it has been the place where I have built many amazing friendships with a group of people that have a passion and excitement for running. I am a big fan of longer runs/races and plan to be very active with the XC group and those who are brave enough to tackle the half marathon at Track Nationals in the spring. Other things that I enjoy doing that don’t revolve around club (which is not a lot) are biking, cooking, getting lost in the abyss of YouTube, and listening to music. I am very excited to meet you all this year and I am open to answering any questions you have about club and anything else!
Emma Ristau  /  Senior  /  Vice President of Sprints
Picture
Whatsup everybody!! I’m Emma and I’m thrilled to be your VP of Sprints this year. I’ll be leading sprint workouts, helping to organize resources to practice field events, working alongside our sprints coach, and be a smiling face you can always reach out to! This club means so much to me and I’d love to give back in any way I can. Pictured is me during my semester abroad in Italy, and while I loved that cone of cheese, I love this club even more :’) Sprinting has always been my go-to, but you can also find me doing the occasional steeplechase or XC race. Outside of run club you can find me studying human physiology, getting donuts at my favorite spots in the cities, collecting vinyl records, and doing anything and everything outdoors. I’m so excited to have you all in club! The state of the world today is so overwhelming - don’t hesitate to reach out if you need anything or just want to say hey!

Matt Doberstein /  Senior  /  Treasurer
Picture
Hi everybody! I'm super excited to be your treasurer this year! I've been a member of club since my first day of college and I'm thrilled to be able to give back to y'all. I'll be mainly responsible for applying for grants from SUA and SSF, as well as updating club records. I'm from Wauwatosa, Wisconsin- which is just outside of Milwaukee and I'm majoring in actuarial science. When I'm not studying for all of those exams, I love watching football (Go Pack Go!), making bad jokes, playing video games, and cheering for the Gophers. While I love a good steeplechase, I'm most at home on a cross country course. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions about club, race team, or if you just want to chat. I can't wait to see y'all at (socially distant) practice!
Blake Rudd  /  Junior  /  Race Team Director
Picture
Hey guys! I’m Blake and I’m pumped to be your Race Team Director this year! I’ll be in charge of organizing opportunities to race/compete safely and hopefully putting together a meet schedule come track season. I’m originally from Eau Claire, WI and am majoring in civil engineering here at Minnesota. I love to compete and consider myself more of a mid-distance guy so catch me in the 800, 1500, and of course the 4x4, though I love hopping in XC races too. When I’m not running I love to hit the weight room, exploring the outdoors, and listening to music (Bon Iver, of course). Hit me up about anything running, questions about the race team, or just to say hi!

Matt Cota /  Junior  /  Distance Captain
Picture
Hi everyone! I’m Matt and I’ll be your distance captain/distance coach for the 2020-2021 school year! I was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota and I’ll be a junior this year at the U. I’m very excited to lead and coach the distance team this year! I’ll be responsible for writing and timing the distance workouts, assisting with injury prevention, and cheering like crazy for all club runners during races. I’m majoring in Political Science and love talking all things politics. In my free time I enjoy drinking coffee and reading the news, watching movies, playing guitar, and listening to jazz. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions about training, racing, injury, or just about any other running related topic!

Cole Deweese /  Junior /  Sprint & Field Captain
Picture
Hey everybody! My name is Cole Deweese, and I am beyond stoked to be your sprints and field captain this year! I’m from Mahtomedi, MN and am studying sustainability and computer science. As far as racing goes, my favorite track events to complete in are the high jump and 400m hurdles, but I’m always down for a 4x4. Although I have, for the most part, hung up the XC spikes since high school, I will impulsively hop in an 8k on occasion. A couple things I like to geek out over are National forests/parks (or just camping in general), super smash bro’s, and stonks. One thing I would love to set up this year are jumping practices for field event athletes, so feel free to reach out to me if you are interested!

Cassie Davis /  Junior  /  Travel Coordinator
Picture
Hi everyone! My name is Cassie, and I’m excited to be your Travel Coordinator for the 2020-2021 school year! In this role, I will be organizing our off-campus travel for meets and events. Even though COVID-19 will be limiting our travel this fall, I’m optimistic for the spring! Originally I’m from Mission, KS (right outside of KC), but I feel right at home in TURC. During Club you’ll likely see me running everything from the 400 to the 6k, and you might even catch me trying something new (like high jump, oof)! Outside of Club you can find me studying psychology, mountain biking, cooking, and knitting. Feel free to hit me up with anything - I’m excited to see you around this fall!
Anna Healy  /  Junior /  Social Media and Event Coordinator
Picture
Hi everyone!! My name is Anna and I am super excited to be continuing my role as the social media and social events officer! Running was a big part of my life in high school, so I was ecstatic to find a place to continue running and racing while having fun and meeting wonderful people! This year will certainly be interesting, but the TURC community is so welcoming and friendly, and I am excited to do everything I can to help continue that community in these wacky times. Outside of running, you can find me studying bioproducts and biosystems engineering (save the earth!!!), admiring the outdoors, petting cats, or eating far too much peanut butter. I know this year has been intimidating, so please come say hi or reach out!!

Anun Kumaran  /  Junior /  Volunteering and Recruitment Coordinator
Picture
Hey y’all! My name is Anun and I’m beyond excited to be your volunteering and recruitment officer this year. I’m from Ann Arbor, Michigan, so this club has been a great way for me to continue running while having a community away from home; I’ve made some of my best friends here and look forward to making more. On the running side of things, I’m definitely more of a distance guy (although I do love myself a good 4x400), and I run more for fun and fitness than to compete. I’ll be at daily runs, so feel free to come up and talk to me about the NBA, Carly Rae Jepsen, or anything else you might find interesting (as long as you stay six feet away)! This year is going to be a challenging one, but I’m sure we’ll have a great time nonetheless. Can’t wait to meet you all!
