Alek Wormuth / Senior / President
Hi everyone! My name is Alek Wormuth and I am super excited to be your Run Club President this year. You will find me this year at daily runs, social events and races! I will be working with an amazing team of officers this year to ensure that Run Club has our best year yet. This is my fourth year in Run Club, having been Vice President last year. This makes me a senior, and my fourth and final year studying Entrepreneurial management and Construction Management. When it comes to running, I love all distances from the half marathon to quarter mile, but the mile/1500 holds special place in my heart. As for a little bit about me, I’m easy going, have a fraternal twin brother, am half Polish and was born in NYC! I can’t wait to meet a lot of new TURC’ers this upcoming season. Again if you guys have any questions/suggestions about club (or just want to talk about running) definitely reach out, I’d love to help!

Isaac Maruyama / Junior / Vice President of Distance
Hi everyone! My name is Isaac, and I'm so excited to be your VP of Distance this year! I'm from White Bear Lake, Minnesota (go bears!) and I'm currently a Junior studying political science and economics. I love racing and training for both cross country and track and field, so you can catch me running with TURC pretty much any day! And if I'm not running or working on school, there's a good chance I'm listening to music or playing the guitar. (Did I mention I'm in an aspiring indie rock band?) Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions you might have about TURC or running in general, I'd be happy to help out in any way I can!

Beirgen Gunhus-Dansdill / Senior / Vice President of Sprints
Hello there! My name is Beirgen and I’m super excited to be the Vice President of Sprints this year! I’m a senior studying Mechanical Engineering here at the U. I’m from the small(ish) town of Decorah, Iowa (in the very northeastern corner of the state). Back in high school I ran both cross country and track, but I’ve officially retired from the former. With that being said, I still love hitting track workouts and competing in the short sprints (100, 200, occasionally a 4x400 now and then). Training with TURC has not only allowed me to continue competition on the track, but it has introduced me to many of my closest friends. When I’m not running or in the books, I enjoy playing ultimate frisbee, mountain biking, watching football, playing Minecraft, and everything Star Wars. If you’re interested in doing some sprint workouts or field events, or competing in track, feel free to reach out! We have a great group for every interest level!

Rachel Edidin / Senior / Treasurer
Hi everyone! My name is Rachel and I am super excited to be your Treasurer this year. I am from Columbia, Missouri and am entering my senior year at UMN where I study biology with minors in statistics and computational biology. I hope to pursue a career in healthcare-related data analytics after I graduate. When I am not running, I like to knit, embroider, bake (my favorite thing to make is cinnamon rolls), and study plant genomics in a computational research lab here at the U. I am also running my first marathon in the fall!
I’ve been involved with the run club since I was a freshman, and I have loved my time so far participating in cross country and track races, practices, and social events. In addition to making sure that we have the funding necessary to participate in all the awesome meets and events we have done in the past, I am very passionate about increasing female involvement in the club. I hope to see you all at a meet or practice in the future! Please don’t hesitate to reach out at any time with questions or just to chat! |
Willem Gokemeijer / Senior/ Race Team Director
Hello, my name is Willem. I’m the Race Team Director this year and I’m thrilled to have some real races this season! I grew up in Pittsburgh and then moved to Edina when I was nine. This does mean I’m a big Pittsburgh sports fan, but I like the Minnesota teams too. I ran XC and track throughout high school and have had a ton of fun running with TURC the past two years. I have always been partial to Cross Country and longer distances, but I do love a good 4X4 during the track season. Outside of running, I’m a Senior majoring in Econ and Journalism. As far as hobbies I enjoy watching sports and movies. Finally, one fun fact about me is that my Dad is from the Netherlands, so I have dual citizenship and can sort of speak Dutch. If you have any questions about competing with TURC, or just want to chat, feel free to hit me up!

Adam Justin / Senior / Men's Distance Captain
What’s up TURC! I’m Adam and I’m this year’s men’s distance captain. I’m from a suburb of Milwaukee called Wauwatosa, WI and I’m a very proud Wisconsinite. I’ll be a junior this year studying political science and economics, so I’m always down to talk about politics. My responsibility in TURC is to plan and manage the distance workouts so that you are all in peak racing shape. I’m also here to talk about how to manage and prevent injuries. If you have ideas for workouts that you’d like the club to run, or any other questions, don’t hesitate to reach out! I’m excited to see all of you running your best this year!

Amanda Bittman / Junior / Women's Distance Captain
Hey everyone! My name is Amanda and I am super excited to be the Women’s Distance Captain for 2022-2023! I can’t wait to plan lots of fun workouts and activities! Helping people train is a passion of mine, and I hope to help make our team faster. My favorite races are the 5K and the half-marathon (I highly recommend joining the club’s half-marathon team!). I am from Alexandria, Minnesota, where I ran both cross country and track in high school. Running with TURC has been a great way to continue my running career! Not only is it a great place to get my daily run in, but it has also been a wonderful way to meet a bunch of friends through all of the social activities. This year, I will be a junior majoring in Computer Science and Economics. Outside of running, I love hiking, camping, curling, Nordic skiing, and baking. If you have any questions about running, injuries, or anything else, feel free to reach out!

Cole Panzer / Senior / Sprint & Field Captain
Hey, y’all! I’m Cole and I’ll be the captain for the Sprints and Field events this year! I am very excited to help continue to grow the Sprints and Field group this year. Since my first year with the club, the participation in sprints and field events had increased by quite a bit and I hope to continue that trend this year!
I’m a Senior this year studying Astrophysics and Physics. I’m originally from a small town called Waupun, Wisconsin, but don’t worry I’ve been a Minnesota sports fan my whole life. You can usually see me at John T. Tate hall (where the School of Physics and Astronomy is located), at the Recreation & Wellness Center working out, or out on the track (either the Fieldhouse or the outdoor track). I ran both Track and Cross Country in high school, but now I generally stick to competing in the 100m, 200m, 4 x 100m, and Long Jump, but I’ll occasionally throw in a 400m, 4 x 400m, and High Jump. As you can see, I’m a jumper and one of my main goals this year is to expand the jumping crew as I have been one of just a couple of jumpers throughout my time here and would love to help others get better or even get started in the best events in Track and Field (totally not bias at all ;). If you see me around, don’t hesitate to say “Hi!” or ask me any questions you might have about the club, what the heck astrophysics is, or anything else you might want to know! I’ll see y’all on the track! |
Brian Balquist / Junior / Apparel and Branding
I'm Brian, your apparel and Branding coordinator for this season! I am a junior studying Environmental Engineering. Originally from Kansas, I have loved getting to explore the Twin Cities and Minnesota. I love running on a solid gravel road, so if anyone wants to get out of the city for a weekend destination run, count me in. In addition to running, I enjoy cooking new foods and going to concerts and sporting events. I look forward to getting you all suited up in the best uniforms around!

Shannon McCoshen / Senior/ Social Media and Event Coordinator
Hi friends! My name is Shannon and I’m super (duper!) excited to be the Social Media and Social Events Officer this year. I’m from Superior, Wisconsin, and I’m studying Neuroscience here at the U. I love all things Christmas, Disney, and Taylor Swift! I also love to talk and laugh; you’ll likely be able to hear me from at least 1600m away :) Throughout the year, I’ll be planning our social events and managing our social media accounts. Be sure to follow us on Instagram, Twitter, Tik Tok, and Spotify @mnrunclub and add us as a friend on snapchat @minnesotarun. As far as running goes, the longer the distance of a race the better, but I’m a firm believer in competing in any event that sounds fun leading up to race day. This club has been the highlight of my college experience thus far, and I’ve met my greatest friends through it. I can’t wait for you all to experience the same! Never, ever hesitate to reach out if you need anything or with any new idea, question or concern. Happy running!

Katrina Mousel / Senior / Travel Coordinator
What’s up squad! My name is Katrina and it’s my pleasure to be your Travel Coordinator this year. I’m from Eau Claire, Wisconsin and I hold a lot of midwest pride. I’m a senior studying chemistry and human physiology and I hope to be a PA. Some of my favorite things include apple crisp, Spotify, watching rom coms with my mom, and traveling. I really enjoy daily runs with TURC, cheering teammates on in races, and even occasionally singing, dancing, and vibing my way through a race. Excited to get to know you all; please reach out at any time! See you soon!

Chris Stallard / Sophomore / Community Outreach and Recruitment
Hi everyone! I’m Chris Stallard and I’m your community outreach and recruitment coordinator! I’m really excited to help our awesome club continue to grow and connect with various community organizations. I’m currently a sophomore studying Chemical Engineering. I’m from Gaithersburg, Maryland (a suburb of Washington DC), so Minnesota winter running was definitely a big change last year. I run mostly longer distance events - cross country races, 3Ks during indoor, and 5Ks during outdoor, so I’m racing and training hard all year. Outside of running, I love pretty much all things outdoors - hiking, mountain biking, camping, you name it. If you have any questions about the club feel free to reach out to me.
